An amazing room makeover for two little boys. With this one we used lots of natural timber and touches of rattan to break up the deep navy of the walls. The amaaaazing Hawaiian Days wallpaper from Boho Art & Styling wraps around one and a bit walls and complements the paint colour perfectly. The texture of the jute rug, quilted bedspreads and cotton curtains adds to the comfort and character of the room. These guys will be getting good vibes from this one for days to come! This is the second room for a repeat client (we are doing a room by room, complete home makeover together). This is the sitting room, which leads out to a terrace. It felt quite dark with heavy light fittings and furniture and the terrace space was just not utilised enough as the styling did not lead the visitor towards the outdoor space. Brief: Colour palette based off the chosen artwork (pictured) with lots of natural tones and light added. Pain points: Dark, heavy furniture, Terrace underutilised, space not being used to full potential. Solution: Light coloured furniture and lightweight pendants, coupled with natural tones of timber and the white patterned sisal rug. The rug was placed portrait style to lead the visitor towards the bifold doors to the outside. Sheer curtains were added to create a diffused light while still allowing the terrace to be visible. The colours of the artwork were picked up in the cushions and leather and timber elements used (with subtle touches of copper for a luxe look). Are you a small business owner who creates lots of live-streams or recordings but only has a dreary, beige, badly lit corner to work with? Or do you need tips for styling your work space to continue your brand consistency? Have you considered professional styling to create content that effortlessly showcases your business message, ethos and vibe? Well, get listening my small biz squad! 'When discussing styling for businesses we ensure that the brand's colour palette is repeated in the design, that their use of decor stays true to their brand values and that their personality and message shines through. You also want to ensure your audience feels empowered or inspired or educated (whatever it is you aim for) just as they do when they see your social media posts'. I recently did a thing with the amazingly talented design genius that is Brodi-Rose Creative Co. where I provide nuggets of goodness on all of the above and more. Check out my interview on Brodi’s page here https://www.brodi-rose.com/post/styling-for-your-brand. This was a full bedroom makeover for my daughter who moved from a shared room with her (annoying) brother to her own magical space. Lots of natural timber used here to tone down the deep aqua green paint my daughter picked along with muted and earthy tones to create a warm and welcoming space. The painted bedhead were wall panels we found secondhand, along with the bedside table that we sanded, re-varnished and re-knobbed (so not a word I know but hey, I’m innovative)! Yes, my daughter is only eight and this is a sophisticated room but that’s just the kinda girl she is! She doesn’t do toys, just books, books, puzzles and more books! The modular, timber bookshelf and shelves above her bed house some of her extensive library and various knick knacks (she’s into collecting random, pretty things). This room will serve her through to teenage years with it's calming tones and natural elements. How lucky are we to have been approached by Stories for Walls (a bespoke wallpaper designer with a very successful Dubai business (Paper Pop Decor) who recently launched this sister business on return to Australia). We are creating a series of photoshoots together over the next year or so, each with a different wallpaper design and styling theme. This was a long shoot as we had issues with the canopy staying up and a toddler who was more interested in sorting mini shampoo bottles! Wallpaper: Stories for Walls 'Into the Woods' in Blush. Theme: Vintage, feminine, whimsical. Brands: Raja Homewares, Magoo Bubs, Milk Tooth, Once Upon a Flower, Republic of Rattan, Fleetwood Fringe. This one is the family/kitchen room of a beautiful Hamptons style home. The owner wanted a more interesting, colourful take on the popular Hamptons style but had no idea where to start and had put various purchased furniture pieces together that just didn't work. We were lucky enough to attend onsite at this home so we could see the before and after styling situation. You can see our 'Style Snapshot' of what we imagined the end result would look like (this is the visual element of our 'Style Solution') and the real life 'BEFORE' (top line) Style Solution and 'AFTER' (bottom line) Style Solution photos in the gallery below. The owner who, in her own words, was completely lost before, styled this easily herself by purchasing our suggested items and following our comprehensive step-by-step guide. Styling made simple! We were honoured to be given the opportunity to style and photograph some of Beach & Wood's homewares (specifically the Justina Blakeney 'Arthur Planter' and 'Ayo Mirror'). As Beach & Wood is a Beachy/Boho brand we wanted to use natural elements and tones which echoed the brand's ethos and also the tones and textures in the homewares we were highlighting. We also used the golden. afternoon. light to our advantage, capturing the glow in the face of the mirror and giving that sunlit look to our photos. This is just a selection of the magic we created and Beach and Wood were very happy with the results! Exciting extra: Some of these images were featured by Justina Blakeney Home as well as Australian House & Garden and UK's Home Beautiful magazines! Proud moment! A gorgeous Summery concept board put together for @beach_and_wood homewares. This Sunroom design uses their stunning daybed and quirky, cool, mirror and planter, along with some selections from other awesome Australian businesses. The cute little faces on the mirror and planter and the golden colour palette fill me with warmth and work together to create a warming, welcoming, Summer all year round sanctuary. One of my top tips for table styling, actually any styling, is to use what you have, can find or can repurpose before buying new. I put together this simple table setting using a palm seed cluster (found on my morning beach walk) as the centrepiece and a woven fan I had hanging on my wall as a placemat. The dried thistle is leftover from a posy I used at a recent event but it could easily be replaced with another natural found element, a single flower, an interestingly tied napkin or a name tag...there are so many options! I absolutely love the way this room came together. The wall mural from @gingermonkey_ is actually meant for a nursery but it’s so standout and sophisticated I think it could be used anywhere. I’ve based my design around this piece, along with the feature couch and I think I’ve definitely nailed the luxe, French, feminine with ‘a touch of boho’ brief I was given. See below for the 'In Real Life' pics of this one too (styled by our client using our step-by-step guide! Brief: Luxurious, French, feminine, relaxing and welcoming room with ‘a touch of boho’. Pain Points: Boring, bland unit lounge-room lacking in personality. Solution: Muted pinks, apricots, greens along with touches of copper and luxurious textures used throughout to promote a calm and feminine feel while also giving that luxury, classy, Hepburn vibe. Such a classy lady of a room! |
