I often get questions from clients about balancing a room with high ceilings. Beautiful high ceilings is certainly not a bad ‘problem’ to have but many people feel overwhelmed about utilising the space to its full potential and making sure the overall look is in proportion. The trick is to bring the eye upwards, making the most of that added height to create a welcoming room (rather than a sparse, clinical space that large, high ceilinged rooms can sometimes have)! My top tips: 🌿Oversized, potted plants: utilise the space and use a potted beauty as your focal point for the room. 🌿A feature wall and/or wall hanging: Feature walls are #backbaby but with a lot more sophistication this time! Paint a wall or feature (such as this fireplace in the second pic) in a contrasting colour or make it pop with amazing wallpaper. Alternatively add a large, interesting wall hanging/sculpture, also shown in the second image. 🌿Feature pendant lighting: There are so many amazing pendants on the market these days. With high ceilings you can afford to make a big statement with your lighting (and I’m not just talking about size wise)! 🌿Large artwork (or an oversized gallery wall): Ensure your art is in proportion to the space and hang higher to utilise the height and encourage that upward view!
